NATIONAL VETERANS DAY OBSERVANCE – “Recognition and commemoration of the Veterans who have served and continue to serve in the U.S. Uniform Services”
WASHINGTON – The nation’s 67th Veterans Day Observance to honor the men and women who have served and continue to serve in the U.S. Uniform Services during war and peacetime will be live-streamed at https://www.dvidshub.net/webcast/25131 beginning at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 11 from Arlington National Cemetery.
The U.S. Army Military District of Washington will conduct a Presidential Armed Forces Full Honor Wreath-Laying Ceremony at 11 a.m. at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
The Honorable Robert Wilkie, United States Secretary of Veterans Affairs, will lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in recognition and commemoration of the Veterans who have served in the U.S. Uniformed Services.
The ceremony hosted by Maj. Gen. Omar J. Jones, commanding general, Joint Task Force – National Capital Region and U.S. Army Military District of Washington will be modified from the standard ceremony to practice physical distancing and to ensure the safety of all participants.
At the time of this release, attendance of the National Veterans Day Observance is limited to official ceremony participants. The public is encouraged to view the ceremony via the live-stream link: https://www.dvidshub.net/webcast/25131.
Arlington National Cemetery will be open to the public from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Memorial Amphitheater and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier are currently closed to the public. All visitors are to follow social distancing requirements and face-covering policy. Anyone not having face coverings in their possession at cemetery entry points will not be granted access to the cemetery.
