Here Comes the Presidential Salute Battery<\/h2>\n

I<\/span>t all began on the Summerall<\/span> Field of Fort Myer. Four artillery pieces placed – The \u201cBig Guns of the Old Guard\u201d were ready to celebrate America\u2019s birthday in a big way – The sun shone brightly on Saturday, July 4th<\/span> reflecting off the highly polished WW II vintage 3\u201d anti-tank guns (officially known as an M5<\/a>) of the Presidential<\/span> Salute Battery. The battery looking sharp in their dress blue uniforms stood at the ready as the time approached for the ceremony to begin for a 50 Gun Salute to the United States of America.<\/p>\n

It’s not a 21 gun salute…<\/h2>\n

Confusion abounds when attending a military final honors, people mistake the results of the order to “Fire Three Volleys”<\/a>\u00a0 for a 21 GUN\u00a0 SALUTE.\u00a0 It’s not since gun salutes are done with artillery not rifles or weapons in military lingo.<\/p>\n
